Mysore Exhibition

Mysore Exhibition is one of the most renowned and famous exhibitions in the state of Karnataka. It is organized during the Dasara festival in Mysore, in the months of October, November and December.

Distance From Bangalore: Approximately 150 kms.
What's Special: It's a typical Indian mela type. it is organized by the Government to demonstrate the various projects completed and new one's taken up during the period from last Dasara to this one. Also there are various shopping stalls, food stalls and games that can be enjoyed for one whole day.

Palace of Mysore


Palace of Mysore is one of the most renowned and famous palace in the state of Karnataka. It is situated in Mysore district and was built in the year 1912. It is the official residence of the Royal Family of Mysore "The Wodeyars" who ruled Mysore for 500 years.

What's Special: It is the venue for the famous Mysore Dussehra festival which is celebrated every year during the autumn season. Some of the well known spots in the palace are as follows: The Old Palace, the Dolls Pavillion (Gombe Thotti), Elephant Gate, Chamunda, Golden Howdah, Marriage Pavillion, Portrait Gallery, Casket Room, Wrestling Courtyard, Royal Furniture, Public Durbar Hall, etc...

Tonnuru Kere (Tonnuru Lake)

Tonnuru Kere is a scenic lake situated in the district of Mandya. It is also known as Moti Talab.

Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 130 kms.
What's Special: A very scenic lake surrounded with interesting landscapes like hills which are associated with legends from Pandavas. It is said that Pandavas stayed in Pandavapura(the village near which Tonnur Lake is situated) for a short period of time during their 14 years exile. A hill has been named after Kunti(mother of Pandavas) as Kunti Betta because she was very found of this place.

Cauvery River (Madikeri)

Cauvery river is the most sacred and famous river in state of Karnataka, India. Its source (Talacauvery) is in the district of Madikeri.

What's Special: Most famous river in the indian state of Karnataka. The delta formed from the tributaries of river Cauvery is well known as the "Garden of South India". The length of the river is approximately 750 kms and there are some very special resorts and fishing camps on the banks of this river which provide various water sports, fishing experiences and other adventure sports.

Chamundi Hills

Chamundi Hills is one of the most famous mountains in the state of Karnataka, India. It is situated in the district of Mysuru.

What's Special: A very scenic and holy mountain in the district of Mysuru, Karnataka. The height of the mountain is 3400 ft. On the top of the mountain is the Chamundeshwari temple and the statue of the Mahishasura demon. On the way to the top of the mountain is the statue of Nandi.

Mysore

"Mysore" also known as the "Heritage City" is one of the well known cities in India. It is situated in the state of Karnataka. It has a very rich historical background. It is decorated by the most sacred river in Karnataka, river Cauvery. Every year Dasara festival is conducted in this city during the month of September or October.

What's Special: It is a historical place and was the first capital city of Karnataka. It has been ruled by the Wodeyar's for more than 500 years. It is the home for the most renowned Palace of Mysore.

Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary

"Ranganthittu" is a bird sanctuary situated in the district of Mandya, Karnataka. It is home to a lot of different species of migratory birds. Millions of birds migrate to these waters every year to treat our eyes. Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 130 kms.

"Mekedatu" means goat's crossing. It is a very scenic place situated in the district of Kanakapura. It is the place where the river Cauvery moves through some of the most dangerous and narrow landscapes.

What's Special: 'Sangama' a place where 2 rivers meet, namely Cauvery and Arkavathi. Mekedatu is truly one of the best tourist places near Bengaluru (Bangalore).

Talakadu

"Talakadu" is a very scenic place situated on the banks of the river Cauvery. This place is completely filled with sand and water. There are lot of temples which are buried in the sand. It is considered as one of the heritage places in karnataka. Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 132 kms.
What's Special: The legend associated with this place is super natural. It is said the place Talakadu was burried in sand because of a curse given by a women who did not like the king Raja Wodeyar soo much. Talakadu is also a very great place for bird watching and swimming in the river Cauvery.

"Shivanasamudra Falls" is a very beautiful water falls situated on the river Cauvery. The falls has been named after the place in which it is situated. It is situated in a place called Shivanasamudra in Mandya district. Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 132 kms.
What's Special: Asia's second and India's first Hydro-electric power station is located here and ofcourse the water falls itself is a master piece of God. Shivanasamudra is one of the most beautiful tourist places near Bengaluru (Bangalore).

What's Special: As mentioned earlier it's a tiger reserve and also an adventurous place for trekking. There are also some wonderful safari rides available and you can see elephants in the wild very closely. Nagarhole National park is truly one of the best tourist places near Bengaluru (Bangalore).

Bandipur National Park

"Bandipur National Park" is situated in the district of Mysore. It is an important and famous National Park of India. It is also an important tiger reserves in India.

What's Special: It is one of the tiger reserves launched during Project Tiger in 1973. Apart from tigers other animals which can be found in this forest but not limited to are elephants, sloth bears, deers, large squirrels, flying squirrels, Panthers, Indian Wild Dog, etc...
