Palace of Mysore


Palace of Mysore is one of the most renowned and famous palace in the state of Karnataka. It is situated in Mysore district and was built in the year 1912. It is the official residence of the Royal Family of Mysore "The Wodeyars" who ruled Mysore for 500 years.

Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 150 kms.
What's Special: It is the venue for the famous Mysore Dussehra festival which is celebrated every year during the autumn season. Some of the well known spots in the palace are as follows: The Old Palace, the Dolls Pavillion (Gombe Thotti), Elephant Gate, Chamunda, Golden Howdah, Marriage Pavillion, Portrait Gallery, Casket Room, Wrestling Courtyard, Royal Furniture, Public Durbar Hall, etc...

Tonnuru Kere (Tonnuru Lake)

Tonnuru Kere is a scenic lake situated in the district of Mandya. It is also known as Moti Talab.

Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 130 kms.
What's Special: A very scenic lake surrounded with interesting landscapes like hills which are associated with legends from Pandavas. It is said that Pandavas stayed in Pandavapura(the village near which Tonnur Lake is situated) for a short period of time during their 14 years exile. A hill has been named after Kunti(mother of Pandavas) as Kunti Betta because she was very found of this place.

Cauvery River (Madikeri)

Cauvery river is the most sacred and famous river in state of Karnataka, India. Its source (Talacauvery) is in the district of Madikeri.

What's Special: Most famous river in the indian state of Karnataka. The delta formed from the tributaries of river Cauvery is well known as the "Garden of South India". The length of the river is approximately 750 kms and there are some very special resorts and fishing camps on the banks of this river which provide various water sports, fishing experiences and other adventure sports.

Chamundi Hills

Chamundi Hills is one of the most famous mountains in the state of Karnataka, India. It is situated in the district of Mysuru.

Distance From Bengaluru: Approximately 150 kms.
What's Special: A very scenic and holy mountain in the district of Mysuru, Karnataka. The height of the mountain is 3400 ft. On the top of the mountain is the Chamundeshwari temple and the statue of the Mahishasura demon. On the way to the top of the mountain is the statue of Nandi.
